Walking Tours

If you love gin and can’t get enough of exercising in the great outdoors, our Walking Tour is the day out you’ve been waiting for.

Our walking tour start at the Silent Pool Distillery the walk is a genteel 3-mile ramble through Albury Park. You’ll take in the idyllic scenery and enjoy some of the finest woodland walks the North Downs and Surrey Hills have to offer, before reaching the quintessentially English village of Shere with its charming buildings, pubs and 12th-century church.

Along the way, you’ll discover the inspiration behind the botanicals in Silent Pool Gin, why we use them and the history behind everything we do before returning to the distillery.

On your return, you’ll be able to relax and put your feet up with a G&T in a complimentary Copa glass before enjoying a delicious lunch.

Once rested, we’ll take you on a guided tour of the distillery where your tour guide will cover what makes Silent Pool Gin so special, including our four unique methods of production, the way we use each botanical in our gin and why.

And if that wasn’t enough, the day culminates in a gin tasting session, starting with our award-winning Silent Pool Gin and ending with our Gin-based fruit cordials.

If you love nothing more than stunning scenery and relaxing with a hard-earned glass of your favourite tipple, we can’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend your day than on one of our popular Walking Tours.

Should you not find a date that works for you please e-mail tours@silentpooldistillers.com to see if we can arrange a tour specially for you and your group.

Your Guide

Torie is a California native who moved to the stunning Surrey Hills almost three years ago and immediately fell in love with the seemingly endless public footpaths on her doorstep.

After spending time long-distance trekking in the Highlands of Scotland, on the beaches of Portugal and across the mountainous regions of Europe, she still considers the Surrey Hills some of the best walking in the world.

Torie is professionally trained in map reading and navigation and is a current Hill and Moorland Leader trainee.

From a recent walker...

“You start the Silent Pool experience actually at the ancient Silent Pool itself!!!
An incredibly beautiful turquoise silent pool wonderfully peaceful.
I could have stayed there all day!
Your amazing tour guide stops here to explain facts about the distillery, the bottle & many other fascinating historical facts about the area.

From there you are led on a gorgeous informative walk through the Surrey Hills explaining where Silent Pool obtains it’s exquisite botanicals local to the area. Passing through the delightful village of Shere a location used for many a film set which will also be told all about!

Returning to the distillery to relax & enjoy a light lunch & of course a beautifully refreshing Silent Pool gin & tonic (presented in a Silent Pool glass which you get to keep!) before completing the distillery tour where you get to sample some of the unique gin based fruit cordials.

Finally pop into the shop to stock up on your Silent Pool essentials!!

A perfect way to spend a day!!”

More challenging walks coming soon...

  • What to wear and carry

Waterproof walking shoes/boots with good tread - many trails can be muddy and the chalk in the area is extremely slick when wet.

Waterproofs (rain coat and waterproof trousers if weather requires).

    Sufficient water for your needs.

Optional - walking poles and/or a small daypack, sun screen etc.

  • Fitness and ability

Our walks are in the Surrey Hills and the clue's in the name. You will need to be sufficiently fit and agile to cope with some steep hills, uneven terrain and stiles.  You will be asked to sign a waiver stating you are aware of and able to tackle the terrain.

  • Weather

We are a hardy bunch and Torie will run our tours in all but the most extreme weather conditions. In the event of a very poor weather forecast, we will contact you to reschedule your tour. Otherwise, assume we will be braving the conditions.

  • Distillery site accessibility

We ask all customers to park in the public Silent Pool Car Park. A lovely two-minute stroll from us.

Sorry, the distillery is a foodstuffs production area so, pets are not allowed onsite.  Please do not leave animals in unattended vehicles.  Our Distillery Tours are not suitable for the under 18s. As a result, our Walking Tours are only suitable for participants aged 18 or over.  If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you may be asked to produce photo ID.
